NORMAL

The first programming language powered by π, probability and pure audacity.

Why write code when π already did?

NORMAL is the revolutionary new programming language where your source code is just a number. That's it.

The interpreter reads your number, jumps to that decimal position of π, decodes the digit as a grammar symbol, recursively expands non-terminals using subsequent digits and synthesizes a complete untyped lambda calculus expression.

Since lambda calculus is Turing-complete, NORMAL is Turing-complete — assuming π is normal. We think that's a perfectly reasonable thing to bet your software stack on.

Hello, World?

4

Congratulations. You've written a valid NORMAL program. It may compute identity, or perhaps reveal deep truths about the decimal expansion of π. Either way, it compiles eventually.

0

The beauty of π comes from its fractional part. So 0 is syntactically invalid for obvious reasons.

Enterprise-ready features

Why NORMAL?

Minimal Syntax

Forget about {}, ;, class and ␣. A number is all you need.

Provably Powerful

Built on untyped lambda calculus with application, numerals, conditionals, and abstraction.

Turing Complete*

*Assuming π is normal.

Future-Proof

As long as π exists, your software ecosystem does too.

Developer Testimonials

“I have replaced my entire codebase with a single number.”

— Early adopter

“Programming with lambdas has never been this accessible.”

— Functional programmer

“Debugging is impossible, which dramatically reduces debugging time.”

— Productivity expert

It's science!

Tired of being productive? Then NORMAL is the perfect programming language for you! If you still find it too pragmatic, remember that there are entire theories built around lambda calculus and number theory. NORMAL introduces a new field of mathematics that connects these worlds of intellectual pastime, and you can be part of it. Download our gloriously unrevised paper (PDF), which lays the theoretical foundation of NORMAL!

Our Promise

Coding has never been so pure.

NORMAL isn't just a language. It's a philosophical commitment to trusting transcendental constants with your production systems.
